MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming women’s hockey student-athletes Jessica Ujcik (Munich, Germany) and Karoline Arvik (Trondheim, Norway) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 4.
Each played a vital role in the Mustangs claiming their second straight Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) title, earning the program’s first automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
Ujcik collected a total of four points across both the semifinal and title games, netting the game winner in the 6-0 victory over Nichols in the semifinal, while adding an assist to lift the Mustangs to the championship game for a second straight season.
On Sunday, Ujcik contributed two assists in the come-from-behind and thrilling 3-2 overtime win over Endicott, including the assist on the game winner with 2:06 remaining in extra time. Her assist came as she wrapped behind the goal and found a wide open teammate for the scoring wrist shot.
