Kilmartin, Eberhart named Mustang Athletes of the Week  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming senior Haley Kilmartin (Fort Plain, N.Y.) and sophomore Rick Eberhart (Lockport, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 21.

Kilmartin led the women's basketball team to a 2-0 week, averaging 19.5 points per game as the Mustangs captured both wins within North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.

She began her week with a season high 29 points in a 72-48 victory over Cobleskill where she shot 9-for-14 from the floor, including draining four from long range. Kilmartin added six rebounds and two steals to her tallies on the night.

On Saturday the senior guard added 10 points to her weekly totals in the 78-51 NEAC win over Penn College, contributing four rebounds, three assists and four steals to the victory.

The senior is a graduate of Fort Plain High and is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Barb and Joe Kilmartin of Fort Plain.

Eberhart assisted the Mustangs men's hockey team to a two game series sweep over Potsdam over the weekend, as he posted three scores, including a game winning score.

On Friday, Eberhart netted his first collegiate score 2:03 into the third period after a Potsdam turnover within the zone, to regain the lead for Morrisville State and added a second score with under three to go in the contest to seal the 6-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win. His first collegiate tally proved to be the eventual game winner in the contest.

He followed with this third score of the weekend late in the second period on Saturday in a 6-1 victory over the Bears in his first collegiate start, finishing with a +2 on ice rating.

The sophomore is a graduate of Lockport High and played forward for the New York Apple Core Junior team prior to Morrisville State. A business administration major at Morrisville, Eberhart is the son of Kristin and Rick Eberhart of Lockport.
