MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State athletics department announced its weekly award winners, naming Kerry Gara (Albany, N.Y.) and Niko Cejic (Johnson City, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 7.

Gara, rider for the hunt seat equestrian team, topped the field of 10 to earn the IHSA Region 3 Zone 2 Championship Title in the advanced walk trot canter class Saturday.

Claiming the regional title a week ago in the same class, Gara earned a spot in the IHSA National Championship Finals in May, with a chance to compete for a national title in the advanced walk trot canter class.

Cejic, senior goaltender for Morrisville State men's lacrosse, posted a 2-1 record in net for the Mustangs across the week, including backstopping the team to a 2-0 start to conference play.

The senior began the week with 14 stops in a non-conference loss to Scranton, before turning away nine in the Mustangs opener against Poly in the 12-10 decision. Seven of his stops in the conference came in the first half of action.

He wrapped up the week with five saves in the win over Wells College.
