Geswaldo selected Honorable Mention USILA All-American

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Nick Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) has earned another accolade to cap off a stellar collegiate career in the Mustang uniform, earning recognition through the USILA as a 2019 Division III Honorable Mention All-America at attack.

This is the first time in program history that Morrisville State has had a men's lacrosse player earn the honor.

Geswaldo completed his four-year career as one of the most decorated student-athletes to wear the Mustang green and white, earning all-conference recognition for the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) four straight seasons – three as a first team selection, Rookie of the Year honors in 2016, and twice being recognized as the conference's Player of the Year (2017, 2019).

"We are very proud that Nick has been acknowledged for his hard work on the lacrosse field this season, but the first thoughts that come to mind about Nick is that even though he has had an outstanding career, his characteristics have really placed him above any other student-athlete I've had the honor of coaching," head coach Jason Longo said.

"Nick is a humble student-athlete, who more times than none, would acknowledge his teammates contributions, especially when it came to playing a role in his individual success on the field. He was gracious in defeat and modest in victory," Longo continued.

"We always knew that he would do the right thing while pushing himself to meet and exceed expectations on and off the field, including leading the charge in community service events and assisting to elevate teammate skills."

"Nick has never given a single excuse and has done so much for this institution (and program), influencing so many others in positive ways which is a strong reflection of his character."

The senior is also the first for the Mustangs to earn DIIILacrosse.com Preseason All-American honors (2019) and completed his final season with record setting numbers.

Across the 17 game year, Geswaldo notched 60 scores, added 21 assists for a total 81 points, including 10 goals that came on the extra man. His season high 60 goals put him at the top of the Mustang record books in single season scoring, as well as in points and man-up tallies.

Throughout his career, he has collected a total 260 points, becoming just the second Mustang to reach the 200+ milestone mark, surpassing brother Louie for the top spot, after he set the top mark in 2016 at 200 points.

Geswaldo collected 187 goals across 69 games, and has added 73 assists, ranking first in scoring and second in assists all-time, respectively. He has notched 31 extra man scores, also ranking first.

He also collected 124 ground balls and caused 27 turnovers throughout his time on the Mustang field, rifling a 64.8 shot on goal percentage.

Geswaldo led the Mustangs and NEAC in scoring on the year, and finds his name among some of the top players across the NCAA, ranking 20th among 250 players in goals per game (3.53) and 22nd in man up scores (10).

Morrisville State has earned the last five NEAC regular season and conference tournament titles, making five straight appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Over the course of the past four years, the Mustangs have posted a 27-1 overall record in NEAC play.

"We think very highly of Nick and he will truly be missed; he simply cannot be replaced."

"We are grateful for the opportunity of coaching, getting to know and watching him grow into the great young man he is today," Longo said. "Our hope is that he learned from us as much as we learned from him."

"He without a doubt has a promising and successful future as he enters the next chapter in his life."

A graduate of Lafayette High, Geswaldo is majoring in residential construction at SUNY Morrisville. He is the son of Vicky and Louie Geswaldo of Lafayette.
