MORRISVILLE, NY – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its 2018-19 Presidents' Cup overall results, with Morrisville State finishing fourth overall after calculating athletic success, academics, sportsmanship and community service; the core values of the NCAA, Division III.
Morrisville State had three top four finishes, including second overall in the Athletic Directors' Cup and SWA Cup. They also finished fourth overall in the Direct Reports' Cup.
The Athletic Directors' Cup measures athletics success across all league offered sports. The Mustangs finished third overall in the women's standings after claiming regular season championships in volleyball and women's lacrosse, while additional programs of basketball, cross country and soccer made post-season appearances. Across the year, Morrisville State garnered a .705 winning percentage for the women's intercollegiate athletic teams.
Morrisville State finished fourth overall in the men's standings, claiming regular season titles in men's basketball and lacrosse, while making post-season appearances in cross country, golf and soccer. Together on the year, they boasted a .656 overall winning percentage.
When factored together, the Mustangs earned a total 72.5 points out of a possible 106 (a .6840 percentage) to finish second in the overall standings behind Keuka College.
Morrisville State also finished second overall in the Senior Woman Administrators' Cup, which recognizes outstanding community service. On the year the Mustangs collected more than $3,400 in donations to charitable organizations, had 856 participants log a league best 2,441 total hours, and received a total 54 points in the voting process, one shy of Penn College who claimed the cup for the first time.
The Mustangs finished fourth overall in the Direct Reports' Cup, which recognizes sportsmanship across the league, as voted by conference coaches throughout the athletic year. The Mustangs earned a total 638 points to finish fourth, as Lancaster Bible College reclaimed their title for a fifth time.
Morrisville State finished 12th overall in the Faculty Athletic Representatives' Cup, measuring academic success, after finishing with 30 total scholar-athletes. Lancaster Bible College topped the conference in the FAR Cup standings, earning their fourth overall Presidents' Cup title.
"I think it's safe to say that with each year since the NEAC changed the President's Cup criteria competition has grown more intense," said Director of Athletics Greg Carroll.
"When the new format was introduced four years ago Morrisville State was well out in front of things as we have always valued service, sportsmanship, academic achievement and competitive success."
