MORRISVILLE, NY – Morrisville head coach Derek Powers announced the men's and women's 2019 cross country schedules, placing the Mustangs at local meets and invitational competitions for four weekends of the season.
The Mustangs will get the season training underway on Monday, August 19 in preparation for the opener at nearby SUNY Polytechnic on Aug. 31.
"We're running two less meets than last season," said Powers. "We're hoping our decision to cut back on our racing schedule will allow us to train more in the early weeks, hoping that will transfer to being fresh and peak at championship time."
Having three road outings in each September and October will lead Morrisville State up to the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships held in November.
Morrisville State will head to SUNY Cobleskill on Sept. 7 for a preview of the conference championship course, traveling west two weeks later to Roberts & Wesleyan for their invitational on the 21st.
A short trip to Cazenovia College on Sept. 28 will lead the Mustangs into an October slate of action that takes them to Hamilton College for two-out-of-three invitationals.
They will hit the course at Hamilton on Oct. 5, followed by the CCOC Championships in Geneva on Oct. 19, before heading back to Clinton, N.Y., for the Hamilton short course invitational on Oct. 26.
Cobleskill will serve as the institutional host for the NEAC Championships Nov. 2nd.
