Morrisville State hunt seat riders tie for fourth at Hartwick

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team compiled 33 team points to tie for fourth place overall at the Hartwick College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition Saturday.

Skidmore was show champion with 47 team points while it was a four team battle for second through fourth place, with the hosts taking reserve honors with 36 points. Albany collected third place with 35 points, and Morrisville State tied SUNY Cobleskill for fourth overall with 33.

Morgan Wilsberg (Mattituck, N.Y.) tied for high point rider honors for a second straight week, posting wins in the open equitation over fences and intermediate equitation on the flat class, qualifying for the regional championships in both classes. In the ride-off competition, Wilsberg won reserve honors in the field of four competitors.

Two additional riders took home blue ribbon rides, including Katie Lamb (Mexico, N.Y.) in the novice equitation over fences class, and Lindsay Kubisek (Bethel, Conn.) in the advanced walk trot canter class.

The Mustangs had three riders qualify for regionals alongside Wilsberg. Katie Mays (Newtan, N.Y.) qualified in the novice flat class, while teammates Rachel Rodriguez (Oceanport, N.J.) in the walk trot canter class and Tomara Bodnariuk (Spey, N.Y.) in the walk trot class will each make post season appearances.

Morrisville State returns to the riding arena March 8th, hosting a show at the Fearon Road Barn.
