Morrisville State hunt seat riders open season with fifth place finish at Hartwick

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team opened the 2014-15 season campaign Saturday at the Hartwick College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) show, finishing fifth overall in team standings while six riders turned in top two performances.

Anna Harrigan (Lancaster, N.Y.) was the lone Mustang to turn in a blue ribbon ride on the day, finishing atop the advanced walk trot canter class.

Carissa Pidkameny (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) posted a double second place finish in her two riding classes, finishing second in intermediate equitation over fences and second in novice equitation on the flat.

Caroline Detzi (Pen Argyl, Pa.) posted a second place finish in the novice equitation over fences class. Her fourth place finish in the novice flat class qualified her for the regional championships held in the spring.

Riders Lindsey Kubisek (Bethel, Conn.) and Emma Robbins (Staten Island, N.Y.) each turned in second place rides in the advanced walk trot canter class, before teammate Courtney DiGirolomo (Rocky Point, N.Y.) finished second in the beginner walk trot canter class.

Skidmore was show champion, posting 47 team points, while Hartwick finished second overall with 36.  

Morrisville State returns to the riding arenas on Saturday, hosting the first of two shows on the weekend at the Fearon Road indoor riding arena. The show starts at 9 a.m.
