Morrisville State hunt seat team fourth at Skidmore show

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team resumed show competition Saturday, placing fourth overall at the Skidmore College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition with 30 team points.

Skidmore was show champion with 49 points, while SUNY Cobleskill earned reserve honors with 38. Hartwick edged Morrisville State for third with 31 points.

The Mustangs had six turn in top rides on the day, including Kayla Titus (Staten Island, N.Y.) who claimed the blue ribbon in the novice equitation over fences class. Sarah May (Washington, N.J.) followed with a first place showing in the intermediate equitation on the flat, while teammate Lindsey Kubisek (Bethel, Conn.) topped the field in the novice equitation on the flat class.

Emma Stock (Walworth, N.Y.) and Gina Hennington (Yaphank, N.Y.) each posted blue ribbon rides in the advanced walk trot canter class while Ashley Pigg (Syracuse, N.Y.) was the victor in the walk trot class for Morrisville State.

Morrisville State had three riders qualify for the regional championships in March, including Alexis Terruli (Rochester, N.Y.) in the walk trot canter class, Alexis D'Auria (Conton-On-Hudson, N.Y.) in the novice equitation on the flat class and Kirsten Sheffer (Corning, N.Y.) in the novice equitation over fences class. All three turned in second place rides in their respective classes to qualify.

The Mustangs return to the riding arena March 7, hosting an 11 team competition, before traveling to Hartwick on Sunday, March 8th for a show rescheduled from this weekend.
