MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team resumed their 2015-16 schedule Saturday on the road at Skidmore College for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) 11 team competition, claiming reserve high point team honors at the Saratoga Springs arena.
Skidmore finished as the high point team with 49 points for the show, followed by Morrisville State with 36, and Hartwick with 31 to round out the top three.
The Mustangs had 10 riders place in the top two of their respective classes, including three that had winning rides.
Morgan Wilsberg (Mattituck, N.Y.) started off the competition with a second lace ride in the open equitation over fences class and followed with a winning ride in the open equitation on the flat class, where she qualified for the regional championships.
Sarah Simmons (East Northport, N.Y.) also finished in the top two in her novice equitation over fences class, claiming the blue ribbon in the novice equitation on the flat class.
Olivia Nygard (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) qualified for regionals in the novice equation over fences class with her second place ride, while teammate Megan Hunsinger (Cato, N.Y.) turned in a second place ride in the novice equitation over fences class.
Lindsey Kubisek (Bethel, Conn.) was the third Mustang to qualify for regionals on the day, collecting a second in the novice equitation on the flat, while teammate Heather Perry (Goshen, N.Y.) also turned in a second place ride in the same respective class.
Courtney DiGirolomo (Rocky Point, N.Y.) claimed the top ride in the beginner walk trot canter class for the Mustangs, while Kailyn Guthro (Mannsville, N.Y.) wrapped up the top finishers for Morrisville State with her second place finish in the walk trot class, qualifying for regionals.
Morrisville State returns to the riding arena Saturday at Hartwick before returning home for their own show on March 5.
