Hunt seat team third at Hartwick IHSA Show

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Morrisville State hunt seat equestrian compiled 30 team points Saturday to finish in third place overall at the Hartwick College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition, held in Oneonta.

Skidmore continued to dominate the riding arena, taking home high point team honors with 38 team points, while Hartwick earned reserve honors with 32.

Morrisville State had two claim individual class wins on the day, while three additional riders finished second.

Sarah Simmons (East Northport, N.Y.) was the top rider for the Mustangs in the intermediate equitation over fences class, while teammate Casey Warren (Cranston, RI) finished with the blue ribbon in the novice equitation over fences class.

Riders Phoebe Leger (New Paltz, N.Y.), Taylor Jurek (Perry, N.Y.), and Alexis Stasinos (Peabody, Mass.) each collected a second place ride; Leger in novice fences, Jurek in intermediate flat, and Stasinos in advanced walk trot canter.

Morrisville State will host the final show of the season this Saturday at the Fearon Road Riding Arena, for a final opportunity to qualify riders for the Regional Championships held April 1st at Skidmore.
