Morrisville State hunt seat team third at Skidmore IHSA Competition   

 

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – After finishing fourth the first week of the 2017-18 season, the Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team rode to a third place team finish at the Skidmore College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition held Saturday in Saratoga Springs.

Skidmore was show champion with 49 team points followed by Cobleskill as the reserve high point team for the day with 34. Morrisville State posted 30 team points, and had nine different riders place in the top two of their respective classes.

Marcus Livermore (Syracuse, N.Y.) started off the afternoon with a second place finish for the Mustangs in the intermediate equitation on the flat class, while teammate Sarah Simmons (East Northport, N.Y.) also added a second place finish in the intermediate class. Simmons earned her second red ribbon on the day, riding to a second place finish in the intermediate over fences class.

Jennifer Capone (Old Bridge, N.J.) turned in dual second place rides in the novice class, as she took home the red ribbons in both the novice over fences and novice on the flat class. Teammate Elizabeth Clark (Morgan Hill, Calif.) and Jennifer White (Syracuse, N.Y.) each had winning rides in the novice over fences class for Morrisville State.

Ashly Marshall (Moravia, N.Y.) was second in the novice flat, before Christine Kevan (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Shannon O'Brien-Goode (Liverpool, N.Y.) claimed the top two spots in advanced walk trot canter class.

Kerry Gara (Albany, N.Y.) wrapped up top riders for the Mustangs with a win in the beginner walk trot canter class.

Morrisville State returns to the riding arena Saturday and Sunday, hosting two shows at the indoor riding facility on Fearon Road.
