Morrisville State hunt seat team, reserve at own show   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team compiled 35 team points Saturday to claim reserve high point team accolades at their own show hosted at the riding arena on Fearon Road.

Skidmore claimed high point team honors for the day with 45 team points, but the Mustangs posted five blue ribbon winning rides to top RPI by one point, earning reserve honors.

Sarah Simmons (East Northport, N.Y.) collected the first blue ribbon for the Mustangs, topping the competition field in the intermediate equitation over fences class.

Abigail VanWinkle (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) registered a sweep in her competition classes, collecting a win in novice equitation over fences before taking home the blue ribbon in the novice equitation on the flat class.

Jennifer Capone (Old Bridge, N.J.) also collected a win for the Mustangs, topping her section of the novice equitation over fences class for the blue ribbon.

Shannon O'Brien-Goode (Liverpool, N.Y.) finished out class winning rides for Morrisville State with her first place ride in the advanced walk trot canter class.

Morrisville State returns to the riding ring Sunday, hosting another IHSA competition.
