Morrisville State edged by Skidmore; collects reserve high point team honors for second straight competition   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College hunt seat team rode to a second straight reserve high point team accolades Sunday, as they collected 43 team points during their own IHSA competition held at the riding arena on Fearon Road.

Skidmore edged the Mustangs for high point team accolades, compiling 45 points, while Albany finished third with 34.

Morrisville State, who had their best showing in the riding arena yet this season, had eight total riders record 11 winning rides, including Abigail VanWinkle (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) who qualified for the high point rider ride-off after earning the double win in the novice equitation over fences and novice on the flat classes. VanWinkle went on to earn reserve high point rider honors for the show.

Two additional Mustangs also qualified for the high point rider ride-off: Casey Warren (Cranston, RI) who notched the double win for Morrisville State in the intermediate equitation on the flat and over fences classes; and Jen Capone (Old Bridge, N.J.) who like VanWinkle, took home blue ribbons in the novice over fences and on the flat classes, respectively.

Sarah Simmons (East Northport, N.Y.) and Marcus Livermore (Syracuse, N.Y.) each claimed blue ribbon accolades in the intermediate over fences and intermediate on the flat class, respectively.

Oksana Fett (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Jennifer White (Syracuse, N.Y.) completed the Morrisville State sweep in the novice over fences class with their winning rides.

Jayci Mieczjowski (Averill Park, N.Y.) rounded out top Morrisville State riders with a win in the beginner walk trot canter class.

Morrisville State returns to competition Saturday, November 18 at Skidmore.
