Livermore advances to IHSA Zone 2 Championships  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State hunt seat equestrian rider, Marcus Livermore (Syracuse, N.Y. / Henninger HS) was crowned regional runner-up in two classes Saturday at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regional Championships held at Skidmore College, and will be representing the Mustangs at the Zone 2 Championships this weekend in New Jersey.

Livermore rode to a second place finish in the novice equitation on the flat and finished second overall in the novice equitation over fences class, earning his first appearance in the Zone Championship show ring, with an opportunity to advance to the National Finals in May.

Five additional riders finished in the top eight, but had to place first or second in order to advance to the next round of competition.

Sarah Simmons (East Northport, N.Y.) finished fourth in the intermediate on the flat, and eighth in the intermediate over fences classes, while Jennifer Capone (Old Bridge, N.J.) rode to a third place finish in the novice over fences class.

Phoebe Leger (New Paltz, N.Y.) was third in the novice flat class and finished eighth in the novice over fences class, while Abigail VanWinkle (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) rode to eighth place overall in the novice flat class.

Christine Kevan (Clifton Park, N.Y.) rounded out Mustang riders with a third place ride in the advanced walk trot canter class, respectively.

Zone 2 Championships will be held in Leonia, New Jersey, Sunday, April 8, hosted by the Bergen Equestrian Center and Columbia University Equestrian Club.
