Hunt seat team rides to reserve high point honors at Sunday IHSA show in Morrisville  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State hunt seat riding team compiled 45 team points Sunday morning at their home show behind five winning rides, earning reserve high point team honors and falling just short of leader Skidmore by four team points, who took home high point team accolades for the day.

THE BASICS:

  • Results: Skidmore 49, Morrisville 45, RPI 29, Colgate 28, UAlbany 25, Cobleskill 25, Oneonta 23, Keuka 19, Siena 18, Hartwick 11.
  • Location: Fearon Road Riding Arena, Morrisville, N.Y.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Morrisville State had five riders take home blue ribbon wins Saturday, including Marcus Livermore (Syracuse, N.Y.) who captured his first win in the open equitation on the flat class, and second overall on the season during competition.
  • Abigail VanWinkle (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) posted her second win of the season as well, topping the competition field in the intermediate equitation on the flat class.
  • For a second time on the weekend, Christine Kevan (Clifton Park, N.Y.) took home another blue ribbon ride in the novice equitation over fences class.
  • Hannah Guindon (Wellsboro, Pa.) was the victor in the beginner walk trot canter class, with fellow teammate Carly Beckwith (Rome, N.Y.) topping the walk trot field for the win.
  • Morrisville State also had six riders finish second overall in their class, contributing to the team's reserve team finish.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • Morrisville State will wrap up their first semester of competition on November 17 at Skidmore College. The IHSA show is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. in Saratoga Springs.
