MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Empire 8 announced its Football Sportsman of the Year Awards Monday, selecting Morrisville State senior Raffaele Bradshaw (Westbury, N.Y.) as the 2018 honoree for the Mustangs.

Appearing for the Mustangs in 11 games this season at wide receiver, the senior caught 49 passes for a total 725 yards and three touchdown scores, averaging 65.9 yards per game.

His efforts assisted Morrisville State in receiving a bid for the second time in program history to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) post-season where the Mustangs appeared in the James Lynah Bowl.

Bradshaw's 725 yards was the fourth most in the conference in receiving this year, as he averaged 14.7 yards per catch with a long reception of 77 yards for a touchdown against Brockport in the regular season finale.

The Sportsman of the Year Team award goes to one member of each team within the Empire 8 that distinguishes themselves and consistently exhibits the critical traits as outstanding sportsman.

The Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission.

"Raffaele has had an excellent four year career as a Mustang," said head coach Curt Fitzpatrick.

"He plays the game with passion, energy, and a positive attitude that is unwavering. He is a tremendous representative of Morrisville State football and has provided a great example to our younger players on how to conduct themselves as a member of a college football program."

A graduate of Holy Trinity, Bradshaw is majoring in business administration at SUNY Morrisville. He is the son of Eugenia and Tucker Bradshaw of Westbury.
