MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Field Hockey team was shut out of their first State Universities of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), losing to New Paltz on the road by a score of 3-0.
New Paltz controlled most of the action throughout the game, forcing the Mustangs to play on their own side of the field. That effort by the Hawks resulted in 27 penalty corners and 26 total shots, 16 of which were on goal. However, despite the lop-sided appearance, Morrisville held the Hawks scoreless throughout the first half.
Morrisville continued to hold their opponent scoreless for the first thirteen minutes of the second half until the amount of shots faces by the defense finally caught up to them. New Paltz used 17 total shots to score three goals in the second half for the 3-0 win.
Meredith Koziol (Waterford, N.Y.) played all 70 minutes in goal for the Mustangs, recording 13 saves.
After three straight away contests, the Mustangs will return home for three straight games at home. The first is a non-conference matchup against Union (N.Y.) on Tuesday, September 20 at 6:00 PM on Drake Field.
