Four Goal Second Half Upends Mustangs in SUNYAC Action

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – A four goal second half onslaught by the visiting SUNY Geneseo Knights put the Mustangs away as they fell 4-0 in SUNYAC action on Friday afternoon.

The win brings SUNY Geneseo to 2-2 in SUNYAC competition, while Morrisville drops to 0-4.

As has been the case for most of the Mustangs' season, the defense weathered a strong offensive attack by their opposition earning another scoreless draw in the first half of play.

The Knights put together 7 penalty corner opportunities and recorded 12 shots in the first half, but it was not until four minutes into the second half that they finally cashed in.  Diana Ruggiero ripped a shot from the left side of the circle for the 1-0 Geneseo lead.

Geneseo struck again four minutes later, when leading goal scorer Giovanna Fasanello picked up her sixth goal of the season to bring the Knights' lead to 2-0.

Morrisville held firm for thirteen minutes as they tried to get themselves back in the game, but two more goals by SUNY Geneseo in the 56th and 63rd minute put the game out of reach for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will look to rebound on Wednesday as they wrap up the home portion of their conference schedule.  Game time is set for 4 PM against Oneonta St.
