Mustangs Blanked in Non-Conference Tilt Against #9 Hamilton

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Field Hockey team was shut out on Wednesday night in a non-conference contest against the ninth ranked Hamilton College Continentals 9-0.

The Mustangs defense stepped up early in the first half against the nationally ranked Continentals, weathering several corner attempts.  Hamilton finally broke through at the 14:47 mark when Michaela Giuttari found the back of the cage for her first of four goals on the night.

Unfortunately, once Hamilton capitalized on one scoring opportunity, they continued to capitalize, scoring twice more in the first half.  Down 3-0, the Mustangs received a corner opportunity as time expired, but were not able to corral the opening pass and the officials blew the play dead.

Hamilton controlled the play in the second half, registering 17 shots and putting up six more goals for the 9-0 non-conference win over the host Mustangs.

Morrisville will return to conference action on Friday afternoon as they travel to SUNYAC opponent SUNY Geneseo for a 4 PM match up.
