Hanehan leads Morrisville State to 3-0 win over Wells  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman midfielder Grace Hanehan (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) scored twice and added an assist to lead the Morrisville State field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent Wells College Saturday evening in Morrisville, sending the senior class off with a victory as they took the field for the final time in the Mustang Valley.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Freshman Grace Hanehan (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) got the Mustangs on the board at the 44:24 mark in the second half, netting the rifle shot from the top of the circle to give the hosts the 1-0 lead.
  • Hanehan added a second tally at 52:37, her seventh goal of the season, collecting the rebound and smashing it into the back of the boards from about 10 yards out.
  • Heather Cummings (Akron, N.Y.) extended the lead for Morrisville State at 56:23, sweeping in the cross from Hanehan at the right.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Dueber (Owego, N.Y.) recorded her first collegiate shut out, turning away three, as Morrisville State held the 27-4 advantage in shots on the night.
  • The Mustangs dominated play in the circle, outgaining the Express in penalty corners 9-2.

  • Morrisville State returns to the field next Friday, traveling to Houghton College for a non-conference bout before wrapping up the 2018 season with a home Halloween contest against Sage College.
