MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's basketball team used a 42 point second half that included a 16-4 run late in the period, as they took down visiting SUNY Polytechnic Wildcats for a second time in the conference series, capturing the 75-62 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win Thursday evening in Morrisville.

Senior Trent Ward (Auburn, N.Y.) led the Morrisville State (14-8, 12-2 NEAC) efforts with 20 points, as teammate Kevin Dennis added 17 to go along with six rebounds and two steals. Derek Beames (Otego, N.Y.) came off the bench to add 12 in the win.

Redell Freeman led SUNY Poly (15-7, 11-2 NEAC) with 21 points, adding eight assists and seven stelas in the Wildcat efforts, while teammate Kevin Williams contributed 16.

Morrisville State trailed 34-33 at the half before halting the Poly offense in the second, to outscore the visitors 42-28 in the final period.

The Mustangs took advantage of Wildcat turnovers to collect 16 points off Poly miscues, including five that contributed to a late 16-4 run over a three minute span to break open the contest to a 15 point Morrisville State advantage.

Poly closed the gap to 11 with 2:09 to go on a three from Frank Reali, but that's as close as they could get as they missed five shots down the stretch, including one from the free throw line while the Mustangs added two for the 13 point benefit.

Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, traveling to Wells College.
