LANCASTER, PA – The Morrisville State College men's basketball team saw their season come to an end Sunday afternoon as host and top seeded Lancaster Bible College claimed the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title with a 74-69 victory on their home court in Lancaster.
The Mustangs finish the 2018 campaign 19-9 overall, after finishing at the top of the North Division in NEAC action. Lancaster Bible improves to 23-5 and will learn their opponent for the NCAA Division III tournament tomorrow during the selection show.
Four collected double figures for Morrisville State in their title game efforts, including Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) who posted a team high 16 to go along with three steals. Miller was 4-for-5 from long range and 6-for-9 from the floor on the day.
Brison Hall (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) each registered 14, Dennis 12 rebounds to go along with his tallies for a 12th double-double of the year. The sophomore became the first underclassmen since 1957 to cross the 1000th point milestone in the contest, recording the mark on his second hoop in the second half. He is just the sixth all-time in program history to reach 1000 points.
Senior Trent Ward (Auburn, N.Y.) closed out his final game in the Mustang uniform with 11 points, adding four rebounds and a blocked shot.
Even though Morrisville State shot better from the floor on the day (45.5%), Lancaster Bible hit eight three's, five of which came at critical points in the game and was near perfect from the free throw line as they converted 18-of-20 opportunities as they .
Today was the sixth time the Mustangs have appeared in the NEAC final, and the third straight facing Lancaster Bible College for the title.
Herbie Brown led the all-around effort by the Chargers with 18 points, adding four assists, while tournament MVP Christo Majok collected 16 points off three from beyond the arc. Quentin Davis added 14, and snagged a team high nine rebounds.
