Dennis has monster week, gets nod as NEAC Player of the Week  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its weekly award winners today, naming Morrisville State junior forward Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) the conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week for a second time this season, after averaging 30.5 points and 21.5 rebounds per game across two contests.

Dennis shot a collective total 61.3% from the floor and 85/2% from the free throw line as the Mustangs split the week's action, collecting a win over NEAC rival SUNY Poly Saturday after suffering a defeat to #12 ranked Middlebury mid-week.

The junior began the week with a 26 point, 11 rebound effort against nationally ranked Middlebury, also contributing two assists, a steal and two blocked shots to his tallies on the night in 29 minutes of play.

He followed up with a career high 35 points and 32 rebounds in the double overtime win against SUNY Poly where he again assisted two others, posted three steals and another two blocked shots.

Twelve of Dennis' points and 10 rebounds came in the two overtime frames for the Mustangs.

The junior shot 69.2% from the floor against Middlebury, hitting 100% from the free throw line on 8-for-8 shots. Against Poly, he shot 55.6% from the floor and nailed 15-of-19 from the charity stripe (78.9%) in 46 minutes of play.

His double-double against Poly was also a school record for rebounds in a single game, while recording the highest total double-double for the program in NCAA history.

Dennis is a graduate of Harry S. Truman High and is majoring in criminal justice at SUNY Morrisville. He is the son of Monique Davis of the Bronx.
