Morrisville State men extend streak to three in 2019 as they top St. Elizabeth 89-78  

 

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The Morrisville State men's basketball team extended their 2019 start to three wins Saturday afternoon as they topped host College of St. Elizabeth by a 89-78 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) final score in Morristown, New Jersey.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • St. Elizabeth opened with a 6-0 early lead hitting back-to-back three's before the Mustangs went on a 19-0 run over the next six minutes to claim a double digit lead.
  • Despite attempts for the Eagles to overcome the deficit, they were only able to pull within eight by the halftime break, as Morrisville State carried a 44-36 advantage into the locker room.
  • The Eagles regained the lead at the 15:55 mark of the second half with a jumper from Ted Thelemaque, but was short lived as Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) hit a jumper of his own and the front end of a free throw to put the Mustangs back in the lead, 52-50.
  •  Morrisville State then went on a 19-4 run as they increased the gap to a 14-point difference, one that St. Elizabeth struggled to overcome as the Mustangs collected the conference win down the stretch.
  • Three notched double digits for the Mustangs in the victory, including Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) who led the way with 21 points.
  • Justin Mitchell (Newburgh, N.Y.) added 18, while shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line, while Miller wrapped up the leaderboard with 10 points.
  • Derek Beames (Otego, N.Y.) just missed a double-double, snagging a team high nine rebounds to go along with nine points.
  • Morrisville State once again proved to be an effective squad on the boards, outgaining the Eagles 45-38 in rebounds, including a slim 14-12 margin on the offensive glass.

  • Morrisville State returns to the court tomorrow, as Penn State Abington plays host to the Mustangs in a 2 p.m. tip-off in conference action.
