Men’s Golf finishes third at NEAC Championships; two Mustangs earn All-Conference accolades

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Morrisville State College men's golf placed third overall at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Tournament held at the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club in Cobleskill Sunday afternoon, finishing the two-day event with a combined score of 668 strokes.

Morrisville State was in third after the opening round on the 70-par, 6,168 yard course with a score of 331 strokes, and finished day two in the same position to compile a +108 score after the final round.

Darren Young (Woodstock, Ontario) and Brandon Davis (Fayetteville, N.Y.) each earned All-Conference honors following their combined scores from the event.

Young finished in 7th overall with a combined score of 157 (+17) to earn second team honors, and All-Conference accolades for a third straight year.

Davis finished tied for 12th overall, posting a combined score of 164 (+24).

Layne Martin (Findlay, Ohio) turned in a 17th place finish with his score of 168 (+28), with teammate Jesse Pflaumer (Elba, N.Y.) finishing tied for 31st with a score of 182 strokes.

Brad Hefner (Billings, Mt.) collected a two-day score of 189 strokes, finishing tied for 34th to round out Mustang scoring.

Rutgers-Camden University claimed the team title, finishing with a combined score of 611 strokes (+51 par), while Cobleskill finished in second, compiling a team score of 629 (+69) for the two-day event.

Morrisville State returns to the fairway Tuesday, traveling to the Elmira College Spring Invitational for a noon start, before wrapping up the season Friday at the SUNY Cobleskill Spring Invitational.
