Four goal burst leads Fredonia past Morrisville State hockey

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Visiting Morrisville State College men's hockey led 2-1 after two periods, but a four goal burst in the final frame gave host Fredonia State the 5-2 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win Saturday night in Fredonia.

Fredonia sweeps the weekend over the Mustangs, dropping them to 5-13-2 overall on the season, 2-9-1 in SUNYAC play.

Dan Morello (Vaughan, ON) and John Doyle (New Lowell, ON) each posted tallies for Morrisville State, Morello's on a power play at 7:09 in the first, and Doyle's at 41 seconds into the second on the man advantage.

Jakob Rasmussen (Vallentuna, SE) had 41 saves in the losing effort for the Mustangs.

Morrisville State and Fredonia entered the third period knotted at two, before the Blue Devils posted the go ahead tally just 10 seconds in and added another six minutes later for the two goal lead.

Back-to-back tallies midway through the final frame put the game out of reach, as Fredonia posted a power play score at 10:23 and added another just 11 seconds later to secure the win.

Morrisville State returns to the ice Friday, hosting nationally ranked Oswego. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
