MORRISVILLE, N.Y. –
Host SUNY Potsdam posted a three goal comeback in the final period to top visiting Morrisville State College by a 4-3 final Friday night in Potsdam in State University of New York Athletic Conference action.
Morrisville State held a 3-0 lead after scores by Zach Baker (Denver, Colo.), John Doyle (New Lowell, ON), and Darren Young (Woodstock, ON) until the 12:33 mark of the second period, when the hosts were able to get past senior net minder Chris Azzano (Oshawa, ON) for their first tally of the night.
In the third, Brad Campagna brought the Bears to within one just three minutes in, and midway through Potsdam added the equalizer off a rebound to knot the game at three with just over eight minutes remaining in the contest.
With less than three to go, Potsdam collected a rebounded shot in front of net and put it past Azzano for a 4-3 lead with 2:53 remaining on the clock.
Azzano was pulled down the stretch for the extra skater, but the Mustangs couldn't muster another tally as Potsdam held on for the conference win.
Potsdam held the 33-24 advantage in shots on the night, with Azzano recording 29 saves in the losing effort.
Morrisville State returns to the ice for the final time Saturday, again facing the Bears at 7.
