Mustangs Can’t Find Solution to Geneseo Offense, fall 8-1

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Men's Ice Hockey team struggled to find a solution to the Geneseo Knights offense on Saturday night, falling 8-1 on the road in SUNYAC action.

After a statement 5-2 win last night over SUNY Geneseo at home last night, the Mustangs struggled to find the same offensive production.

The Knights struck first on their home ice midway through the first period.  However, it was a four-goal second period that ultimately put Morrisville away.  Geneseo registered 3 goals before the Mustangs could get on the board late in the second period.  David Landau (Newtown, Conn.) tallied the score for Morrisville with Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) and Joe Ftoma (Winnipeg, Manitoba) assisting.

Geneseo did not let the Morrisville goal bother them as they notched one more at the end of the second period for the 5-1 advantage.  Three more goals in the third brought the final score to 8-1.

The Mustangs will turn their attention to their conference series next weekend against Buffalo State.  Morrisville will host Buffalo State at 7 PM on Friday, February 3 before they hit the road for their Saturday contest at Buffalo.
