Mustangs Can’t Bounce Back from Early Deficit, Fall 4-2 against Buffalo State.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Men's Ice Hockey team dropped a SUNYAC contest 4-2 on Friday night at home against the visiting Bengals from Buffalo State.

The Mustangs allowed the Bengals to get on the board late in the first period on a power play goal at the 14:49 mark.  After that, Buffalo State rattled off three unanswered goals in the second period before Morrisville could get on the board.

CJ Stubbs (Pleasant Grove, Vt.) nailed the one timer from the left circle for his 10th goal of the season to make the score 4-1.  Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) and Mike Giacometti (Mississauga, Ontario) were credited with the assists after working the puck around to Stubbs.

Morrisville was able to cut the Bengals' lead in half, midway through the third period off of the stick of Henry Hearon (Chicago, Ill.).  Jordan Carvalho (Brampton, Ontario) recorded his 24th assist of the season on the play, while Layne Martin (Findlay, Ohio) picked up his sixth.

The Mustangs continue to push to gain opportunities late, and were granted a few as the Bengals periodically found themselves in the penalty box.  However, it was not enough for Morrisville as they were unable to gain any ground late against Buffalo State.

Morrisville will travel to Buffalo State tomorrow night for the second game of the conference series.  Puck is set to drop at 7 PM.
