CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Morrisville State men's lacrosse team improved to 8-2 overall and remain untouched in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action at 5-0 as they handed host Cazenovia College the 22-7 defeat Wednesday afternoon in Cazenovia.
Twelve different Mustangs posted tallies on the day in the win, including Louie Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) and Eliud Evans (Culver City, Calif.) who each collected four. Geswaldo also added three assists for a total seven points in the outing.
Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) added to the victory with his own hat trick, while teammate's Nick Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) and Richie Fischer (Rochester, N.Y.) dished out a combined seven assists.
Morrisville State jumped out to an 8-2 lead after the opening quarter and didn't look back as they led 10-4 at the break and used a seven goal third frame to put the game away.
Chris Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) registered seven saves in the win for the Mustangs in 50 minutes of action, before Dan Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) closed out the game with a save in the final 10 minutes of play.
Morrisville State dominated the Wildcats in every facet of the game, holding the significant 55-24 advantage in shots, 48-18 landslide in the ground ball battle, and dominating 25-8 victory at the center X.
Scott Augustine (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) won 11-of-15 faceoffs for the Mustangs and posted a team high eight ground balls, while teammate John Petriello (Carmel, N.Y.) posted 12 wins in 14 attempts at the center line, picking up six ground balls.
The Mustangs return to the field Saturday, traveling to Keuka College in a rematch of last year's NEAC Championship final, and battle of this year's conference undefeated teams. Keuka currently is 5-0 on the season in NEAC play, as is the Mustangs. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Keuka.
