Morrisville State men’s lacrosse makes exit from NCAA Tournament with loss to Ithaca

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State men's lacrosse team saw their 2016 season come to an end Wednesday afternoon, as they fell to top nationally ranked Ithaca College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament by a 24-7 final.

The Mustangs conclude the season with a 13-3 overall record, after claiming their second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season and championship tournament title.

Nick Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) paced the Mustangs with four goals, while teammates John Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) and Louie Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) added two and one, respectively.

Chris Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded the loss, despite a 15 save effort.

Morrisville State trailed 4-2 after the opening quarter, but Ithaca, known for their second quarter stats, rallied and went on a scoring rampage to break open the contest to a 17-2 lead at the half.

Morrisville State outscored the Bombers 3-2 in the third, adding two additional scores in the fourth before the game concluded.

This was the second straight appearance for the Mustangs in the NCAA tourney.
