Mustangs unable to cage Bears as Potsdam nets 9-5 win  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Potsdam scored three goals in each the second and fourth quarters as they posted the 9-5 non-conference victory over the host Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon on Drake Field in Morrisville.

The loss drops Morrisville State to 1-7 overall, while Potsdam improves to 2-3 on the season.

Nick Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) led the Mustang efforts with four goals, while Zach Palin (Lafayette, N.Y.) added one.

Logan Peters (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Peter Pina (Culver City, Calif.) each registered an assist.

Dan Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) registered eight saves in the loss between the pipes, picking up three ground balls.

Morrisville State edged Potsdam in shots on the day, 45-27, and in the ground ball game, 27-26.

David Gullen (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) collected four ground balls, while Chad Warren (Lafayette, N.Y.) contributed four caused turnovers to the Mustang efforts.

Eric Soderquist and Josh Huiatt each posted two goals for the Bears, while Zach Sheridan turned away 18 Morrisville State shot attempts.

Morrisville State returns to the field Wednesday, opening North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play on Drake Field against Hilbert College. Face-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
