WHITTIER, CALIF. – The Morrisville State men's lacrosse team got a slow start Thursday night and fell behind quickly as they dropped a 20-8 non-conference decision to Whittier University on the road in Whittier, California.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Whittier scored seven first quarter tallies and limited Morrisville State to two, as they raced out to a lead that the Mustangs struggled to overcome, claiming the 20-8 non-conference win on their home turf in California.
- The loss is the third straight for the Mustangs who fell to 0-3 to date on the young season.
- Whittier opened with the first three tallies of the night before back-to-back scores by Cortland natives Chris Dovi (Cortland, N.Y.) and Joe Piedigrossi (Cortland, N.Y.) brought the Mustangs within one with just over five to go in the opening frame.
- The hosts, though, posted four straight to end the quarter, all within two minutes, to carry a 7-2 lead into the second.
- Whitter increased their lead to seven with two additional tallies in the second, and limited the Mustangs to one off the stick of Zach Palin (Lafayette, N.Y.), before netting six unanswered in the third quarter for the commanding 16-4 lead after three.
- Morrisville's lone tally of the third was from Thomas Knapp (Walworth, N.Y.) who posted the unassisted goal midway through at the 6:54 mark.
- The Mustangs most successful offensive quarter came in the fourth as they netted four goals, two from Joseph Rosaschi (Syracuse, N.Y.), one from Peter Pina (Culver City, Calif.) and another from Nick Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.), but the damage had already been done as Whittier collected the 20-8 win.
- Niko Cejic (Johnson City, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net, saving nine for Morrisville State.

- Morrisville State returns to Drake Field Monday to host Geneseo in a 4 p.m. match up rescheduled from early March due to weather.
