Morrisville State men post second straight NEAC win, top Cobleskill 3-0

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Visiting Morrisville State College had three post goals Sunday afternoon as they earned a 3-0 shutout North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host SUNY Cobleskill in Cobleskill.

The win is the third straight for the Mustangs on the year, as they boost their record to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in conference play. Cobleskill drops to 2-2 overall, 1-1 in NEAC action.

Morrisville State's Moo Kpor Mu (Buffalo, N.Y.) was first to strike for the Mustangs, nailing the score from 20 yards out in a blast that sailed past Fighting Tiger goalkeeper Paul Martini at the 24 minute mark.

Philemon Appiah (Kumasi, Ghana) extended the lead to two for the visitors, netting the goal off a loose ball in the box with just four seconds remaining before the halftime period.

In the second, Morrisville State senior striker, Joe Sheehan (Liverpool, N.Y.) added the third and final score for the Mustangs, burying the long cross from Accele Rando (Thailand) for the commanding 3-0 lead in the 59th minute.

Eric Berglund (Elmira, N.Y.) earned the shutout victory for Morrisville State, registering two saves.

Martini finished with five stops in the loss for Cobleskill, as the Mustangs held the 20-8 advantage in shots on the day.

Morrisville State returns to the field next Saturday for a double-header NEAC matchup, hosting Lancaster Bible College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, before wrapping up the weekend with a 2 p.m. tilt against Penn St. Berks on Sunday.
