Morrisville State men dominate St. Elizabeth for road win

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Senior forward Joe Sheehan (Liverpool, N.Y.) posted a hat trick and assisted one to lead the visiting Morrisville State College men's soccer team to a 15-0 onslaught North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) decision over host College of St. Elizabeth Wednesday afternoon in Morristown, New Jersey.

Morrisville State (8-1, 7-0 NEAC) had the contest rescheduled from Saturday's inclement weather in New Jersey that postponed the game.

Mick Keilan (Berlin, N.Y.) recorded the shutout in net, saving two as Morrisville State had the 31-4 advantage in shots on the day. Both of Keilan's stops came in the first half of action.

Morrisville State opened the flood gates in the ninth minute, as Sheehan tallied his first of the day on an unassisted score. Just over two minutes later Sheehan connected with Jamieson McKoy (Bassatterre, St. Kitts) on a cross to the middle of the box to add to the visitor lead.

Sheehan collected his third point at the 18:04 mark, putting home the cross off the feed from McKoy.

Three quick scores within eight minutes led to a 6-0 Morrisville State lead with 10 minutes to go before the half. Julian Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) posted a tally from the right side of the field about 20 yards out, before Griffen MacWatters (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) collected his first of two on the day off the cross from Kossi Philippe Nodjo (New York City, N.Y.).

Nodjo then collected his first collegiate score, at 34:27, following that with a second assist, this time to Sheehan in the 43rd minute.

Jose Figueroa (Boston, Mass.) gave Morrisville State an 8-0 lead at the break, netting the score from 20 yards out. MacWatters was credited with the assist.

Morrisville State picked up where they left off in the first half, adding seven additional scores to roll to the win.

Nodjo finished with two goals and three assists for a collegiate high seven points, while teammates MacWatters, Rodriguez and McKoy each collected two scores apiece.

Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, hosting Penn St. Abington in a critical NEAC matchup. Abington currently sits in second place in the conference with a 7-1 NEAC record. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on Drake Field in Morrisville.
