Morrisville State men fall 2-1 on the road to No. 18 Oneonta

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's soccer team battled to a 2-1 non-conference decision with No. 18 NSCAA nationally ranked SUNY Oneonta Tuesday afternoon, in Oneonta.

The loss is just the third for the Mustangs on the year, as they fall to 11-3. SUNY Oneonta improves to 12-3-1.

Both teams played to a scoreless first half, before breaking through during a 10 minute stretch in the second.

Oneonta opened all scoring in the 52nd minute as Cory Santangelo settled the ball off a crossing pass to put the ball off the crossbar and over the goal line for the score.

Four minutes later, Morrisville State's Jamieson McKoy (Bassatterre, St. Kitts) posted a similar score to tie the contest at one, collecting the ball at the top of the box and rifling the shot that ricocheted off the cross bar and over the goal line.

Oneonta took the lead for good in the 62nd minute as Alejandro Ruiz received the cross into the box, and put it past Morrisville State keeper Mick Keilan (Berlin, N.Y.) for the score and 2-1 lead.

Keilan finished with six saves in the loss for the Mustangs who return to the field Saturday against Cazenovia College, in Cazenovia for a Route 20 Rivalry showdown.
