Late score lifts Oswego over Morrisville State men, 1-0   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Playing to a scoreless outing, Oswego State's Caleb Asamoah (Accra, Ghana) sent the ball from the left to the center of the box where a waiting Logan Sperano (Pine Bush, N.Y.) was able to connect and put the header into the back of the net to down host Morrisville State College men's soccer by a 1-0 final decision in the 89th minute Saturday evening in Morrisville.

The loss drops the Mustangs to 1-4 to date on the season. Oswego improves to 5-1-1 overall.

Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) got the start in net for the Mustangs, saving one in the first half of action before being replaced by senior Cody Gaines (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) in the second half.

Gaines registered four saves against the persistent Oswego attack, but recorded the loss as Sperano's tally came at the 88:19 mark.

Brian Terra (Lake Grove, N.Y.) recorded the win for the Lakers, registering five saves.

Morrisville State returns to the field Tuesday, traveling to Buffalo State College for a 6 p.m. non-conference match up.
