Morrisville State men fall short in non-conference decision with Oneonta   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision to no. 7 ranked SUNY Oneonta in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division III poll Sunday afternoon in Morrisville.

The loss drops the Mustangs to 5-8-0 overall on the season, while the Red Dragons up their record to 11-1-1.

Cody Gaines (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) registered the loss despite a nine save effort for a second straight contest.

Oneonta posted one score in each half of play, both off the foot of Witman Hernandez. The first came at the 23:50 mark as Hernandez put home the deflection off the initial shot from Roberto Ventura.

He added the second for the Red Dragons in the 55th minute, with the one-touch off the chip forward from Austin Hughes at center field.

Nick Lindovski posted two stops to collect his first win on the season.

Morrisville State returns to the field Tuesday, hosting SUNY Cobleskill in the home finale at 4 p.m. on Drake Field. The Mustangs will be honoring its 2017 senior class prior to the contest.
