Morrisville State men shut out SUNY Polytechnic, 2-0   

 

MARCY, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's soccer team earned a 2-0 cross town North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host SUNY Polytechnic Wednesday night in Marcy.

The win lifts Morrisville State to 7-9-1 overall, 6-3-1 in conference play. Poly drops to 8-8, 6-3 within the NEAC.

Cody Gaines (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) registered four saves for his second shutout win of the season, while teammate Kossi Philippe Nodjo (New York City, N.Y.) registered the score.

Griffen MacWatters (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) collected an assist along with Ryan Houghtalen (Syracuse, N.Y.).

An own goal by SUNY Poly gave Morrisville State the 1-0 lead in the 14th minute, as a mishit by the defense resulted in the tally.

He added a security score in the 65th minute as the shot from the right wing sailed into the left side of the box.

Morrisville State will await their fate for the NEAC Championship Tournament, a title they have defended for three consecutive seasons. Tournament selections will be announced later this weekend by the conference office.
