Gaines named NEAC Defensive Player of the Week   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its weekly award winners in men's soccer Monday, naming Morrisville State College senior goalkeeper, Cody Gaines (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) the Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 29.

Gaines recorded his second shutout win of the year, a critical victory over SUNY Polytechnic that assisted the Mustangs into securing the top seed in the North Division.

In the contest he registered four saves, with three of his stops coming in the second half of action as the Wildcats fired 11 attempts in an effort to net a score.

Morrisville State opens tournament play today, hosting SUNY Polytechnic at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.

The senior is a graduate of Hoosick Falls High and is majoring in technology management at Morrisville State. He is the son of Calli and Ben Gaines of Hoosick Falls.
