Four earn recognition on 2017 NEAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference teams   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its 2017 Men's Soccer All-Conference first, second and third teams Thursday, selecting four from Morrisville State, as voted by league coaches.

Seniors Julian Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) and Jose Figueroa (Boston, Mass.) along with sophomore Griffen MacWatters (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) each received first team recognition, while teammate Stephen Oduro (Kumasi, Ghana) was honored with third team accolades.

Rodriguez led Morrisville State in scoring this season as a striker, utilizing his speed and skill ability while collecting 17 points on five goals and seven assists. He converted 2-of-3 penalty kick attempts, while recording two game winning tallies (Utica and Cazenovia).

The 2016 Third Team All-Conference selection currently ranks fourth in the NEAC in assists, and 11th in points.

Figueroa was a dominant force for the Mustangs in the midfield, contributing on both ends of the field. Offensively he added four goals and an assist for nine points on the year, with a game high two tallies coming in the win over Keuka. He also recorded the game winning tally against Penn College.

Figueroa was a 2016 All-Conference First Team selection.

MacWatters contributed six points on the year to the Mustangs offensive game from his midfield position, netting two goals and assisting another two. The sophomore posted the game winning tally over Keuka.

He is a 2016 All-Conference First Team selection and the 2016 Rookie of the Year.

Oduro collected nine points in his first season with the Mustangs behind three goals and three assists at his forward position. The sophomore posted the game winner over Wilson College.

Oduro often created scoring opportunities for the Mustangs along the wing, using his quick foot and ability to carry the ball along the sideline.
