Sparkowski gets nod as Defensive Player of the Week  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its weekly award winners in men's soccer, naming Morrisville State sophomore captain, Daniel Sparkowski (East Meadow, N.Y.) the Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 28.

Sparkowski played a critical role in the Mustangs 2-0 week within conference play, securing a post-season bid for Morrisville State in the conference tourney with two crucial conference wins.

Anchoring the back line, Sparkowski was part of a defensive unit that held SUNY Poly scoreless as the Mustangs picked up the 3-0 win.

On Sunday, he posted the game tying score in the minute of action on a header to send the game into overtime where the Mustangs posted the thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Cobleskill to secure the 3rd seed in the post-season.

The sophomore is a graduate of East Meadow High and is majoring in criminal justice at SUNY Morrisville. He is the son of Kristen and Charles Sparkowski of East Meadow.
