Morrisville State men host cross country invitational, finish 9th   

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's cross country team hosted their first invitational in over two decades Saturday, finishing 9th overall out of 13 competing teams in Morrisville.

Owen Braun (Fulton, N.Y.) led Morrisville State team scoring, finishing 40th individually as he crossed the finish line in 32:53 in the 8K race.

Mason Craine (Red Creek, N.Y.) was shortly behind, finishing the hilly course in 33:05, a 43rd individual finish, while Isaiah Evans (Cazenovia, N.Y.) crossed just six seconds later, scoring third for the Mustangs.

Corbin Wadsworth (Bridgeport, N.Y.) and David Nortier (Sodus, N.Y.) rounded out team scoring with their 60th and 67th individual finishes, posting times of 36:14 and 38:03 respectively.

Penn College sophomore Josh Velez was the individual champion for the invitational, crossing in 28:07.2, escaping Mark McClenahan from SUNY ESF down the stretch for the two second victory.

SUNY ESF won the invitational, crossing all five scoring runners in the top 11 of the meet, among the field of 117 runners.

Morrisville State returns to the courses the 23rd, traveling to Roberts and Wesleyan.
