Hamilton short course serves as final tune-up for Mustangs   

 

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's cross country team hit the Hamilton College short course invitational Saturday, serving as a final tune-up before the Mustangs host the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships next Saturday.

The Mustangs compiled a combined 143 points between the 4K and 5K races, finishing fifth in team standings.

Jim O'Connell (Skaneateles, N.Y.), David Nortier (Sodus, N.Y.) and Na'Im Williams (East Orange, N.J.) all competed in the 4K race, finishing in 19th, 20th and 21st position, respectively. O'Connell posted a time of 17:25.3, while Nortier crossed with a time of 17:32.4. Williams rounded out the 4K field with a time of 18:12.5.

Isaiah Evans (Cazenovia, N.Y.), Owen Braun (Fulton, N.Y.) and Corbin Wadsworth (Syracuse, N.Y.) competed in the 5K race, finishing in 21st, 28th and 34th overall positions.

Evans posted a time of 18:27.2 for the Mustangs, while Braun followed with a time of 19:06.3.

Wadsworth rounded out the Mustang scoring with a time of 21:37.3.

Morrisville State will host the 2017 NEAC Championships for the first time next Saturday. The men's race begins at noon.
