Morrisville State men’s cross country opens season with 8th place finish at Wildcat Invite  

 

MARCY, N.Y. – The Morrisville State men's cross country team opened the 2018 season Saturday with an eighth place team finish at the SUNY Polytechnic Wildcat Invitational held on the SUNY Poly campus in Marcy.

Freshman Derek Hutchings (West Windfield, N.Y.) paced the Mustang pack with his top team finish, crossing the line 65th overall among 110 runners with a time of 24:04 in the short course invitational.

Owen Braun (Fulton, N.Y.) followed 37 seconds later with a time of 24:41, placing 68th  overall, while teammate Ben Seale (Chittenango, N.Y.) challenged down the final stretch in a foot race to the finish. Seal finished 69th with a time of 24:45.

Jim O'Connell (Skaneateles, N.Y.) and Corbin Wadsworth (East Syracuse, N.Y.) rounded out team scoring with their 25:21 and 26:14 times, respectively.

Morrisville State returns to the course next Saturday at the Cobleskill Invitational, with an anticipated start of noon.
