Morrisville State bats drop double at Lancaster  

 

LANCASTER, PA – The Morrisville State College softball team was swept in Sunday's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action, as host Lancaster Bible College collected the 4-0 and 9-1 double-header win on their home field in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Morrisville State drops to 3-11 overall, 0-6 in NEAC play.

In the first of the day's action, the Chargers opened with a four run lead in the bottom of the first enroute to the 4-0 victory. Lancaster took advantage of an error in center field, scoring two before wrapping up the inning with a single for an additional two runs.

Morrisville State collected four hits in the day's opener, including one from pitcher Allison McGuire (Gilboa, N.Y.) who went 1-for-3 from the plate. In six innings pitched, McGuire allowed three earned runs and registered four strikeouts in the loss.

In the night cap, Lancaster Bible used a four run bottom of the fourth to pull away from Morrisville State, collecting the 9-1 five inning victory.

Morrisville State's lone run came in the top of the second inning as Jada Faye Bennett (Manhattan, N.Y.) hit a home run over the outfield fence.

Amanda Labe (Friedensburg, Pa.) also collected two hits, as she finished 2-for-3, while posting two stolen bases.

Chyne Kennedy (Southwold, Ontario) recorded the loss on the mound, throwing four innings and allowing eight hits and nine earned runs, striking out four.

Morrisville State returns to the field Tuesday, hosting Wells College at 3 p.m., field and weather pending.
