CLINTON, N.Y. – Host Hamilton College earned the double-header sweep over visiting Morrisville State Tuesday at the Loop Road Softball/Baseball Complex located in Clinton, NY, collecting the 15-0 and 9-1 wins behind a collective twenty-three hits.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Chyne Kennedy (Southwold, Ontario) posted the lone hit for the Mustangs in game one, singling up the middle in the top of the first inning. Emily Vesley (Johnson City, NY) was unable to capitalize, popping up to second to end the inning.
  • The Mustangs held the hosts scoreless for the first two innings until Hamilton's Caitlin Berreitter started off the third inning with a leadoff walk, followed by a stolen base, then scoring on a wild pitch. The Continentals went on to score fourteen unanswered runs in the fourth inning to earn the victory in five innings.
  • Kennedy pitched the loss for the Mustangs, allowing twelve hits, six earned and striking out two.
  • Vesley led the Mustangs in game two, posting two hits and scoring the lone run for Morrisville. Her first hit game in the top of the second on with a single up the middle. In the fourth inning, the third baseman singled to shortstop, and then advanced to second on a Hamilton error. When Meleena Mortimer (Canandaigua, NY) walked, Vesley advanced to third, and later scored on a wild pitch to put Morrisville on the scoreboard, 1-4.
  • Hamilton would go on to score five additional runs in the bottom of the fifth, walking away with the 9-1 victory.
  • Kellina Murphy (Yonkers, NY) threw the loss in game two, pitching 4.2 total innings, allowing nine runs on two hits, three earned, and striking out two.

 

WHAT'S NEXT

Morrisville State will host SUNY Delhi in their home opener Thursday in a double header, pending field conditions. Games are slated to start at 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
