COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Despite a 4-2 lead after two innings of play, the Morrisville State softball team was unable to combat a comeback from host, SUNY Cobleskill in the second inning of game one, falling 12-4. The Fighting Tigers continued their hot bats in the nightcap, downing the Mustangs 13-0 in five innings.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Morrisville State took an early 3-0 lead in game one; Savannah Hobbie (South Kortright, NY) got things started for the Mustangs at the plate, ripping a single to advance Paige Williams (Machias, NY) to second base and scoring Meleena Mortimer (Canandaigua, NY) and Emily Vesely (Johnson City, NY).
- Skyler Girard (Cherry Valley) picked up an RBI to follow on a single, scoring Williams to take a three-run lead over the Fighting Tigers.
- The Mustangs gave up two runs in the bottom of the first, but kept the offense coming in the top of the second. Mortimer came up with her second hit of the game, scoring Ciera Sprague (Elmira, NY).
- Cobleskill's offense exploded to start the second inning, scoring ten runs on nine hits throughout the last four innings.
- Sprague finished with two hits on 3 at-bats for Morrisville State. Six of the nine starters in the Mustang lineup recorded at least one hit in game one.
- On the mound, Chyne Kennedy (Southwold, Ontario) threw the loss for the Mustangs allowing twelve runs, ten earned, on eleven hits and struck out three batters.
- Cobleskill's Arielle Kranbuhl threw her first collegiate no-hitter in game two, striking out seven Mustang batters, walking one, and allowing zero hits.
- Kellina Murphy (Yonkers, NY) took the loss for Morrisville State, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing thirteen runs, twelve earned, on fourteen hits and striking out one.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Mustangs are back in action this weekend, hosting both Wells College and Keuka College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. Game times will be announced pending a closer look at field conditions.
