Keuka uses fourth quarter to pull away from Morrisville State women  

 

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Host Keuka College used the fourth quarter to outgain visiting Morrisville State College women's basketball Wednesday night, as they captured the 55-48 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory in Keuka.

Morrisville State drops their first NEAC contest of the season, falling to 4-7 overall and 3-1 within conference play. Keuka improves to 9-2, 4-1 in NEAC action.

Alexis Campbell (Buffalo, N.Y.) led the Mustang charge with a team best 15 points, adding two steals, while teammate Haley Kilmartin (Fort Plain, N.Y.) added nine points and four rebounds in the Morrisville State efforts.

Abby Halsey (Palmyra, N.Y.) notched eight points to go along with eight rebounds, while center Marissa Woodard (Unadilla, N.Y.) snagged 14 off the glass, blocking four.

Keuka held the slim 23-20 lead at the break before Morrisville State pulled even after three quarters of play.

In the fourth, the Mustangs opened with four straight points and with six minutes to go led by six, but back-to-back three's from Keuka tied the contest at 43 midway through the final frame.

Both teams played to within two of one another until a three by Lauren Anten with 37 ticks to go gave the hosts the five point advantage, as the Wolves sealed the win from the free throw line down the stretch.

Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, traveling to Penn St. Berks for a NEAC matchup before facing College of St. Elizabeth on Sunday.
